Jogging/All Terrain Stroller Guide
Jogging/All Terrain strollers are the ideal strollers for
those that run or jog often with their strollers. The design
of a jogging stroller allows for comfort and stability for
your child as well as a nice smooth ride. A few features
to consider when looking for a jogging stroller are the
following:
Wheel size:
Smaller wheels: For walking on smooth surfaces. Easier
to maneuver. Usually 12" or less.
Bigger wheels: For running on rough terrain. Superior glide
and less resistance makes it easier to push over rough terrains,
curbs, and steps. Typically 16" - 20" wheels.
16" wheels are better for walking or jogging with some
off road use, while 20" + are best for running/off
road use.
Front wheels:
Fixed Front Wheel: If you will be jogging often with your
stroller consider the fixed front wheel for the stability
and straighter smoother run. The tires tend to be larger
(16" compared to the 12") which will provide better
handling and less jolting on rough terrains.
Swiveling Front Wheel: The swiveling front wheel would
be ideal for indoor use and walking. The wheels tend to
be 12" or less and less of a smoother ride on rough
terrain, however allow for easier handling and maneuvering
when indoors. The wheel typically can be locked for those
occasional jogs.

Alloy vs. Steel Wheels:
Alloy Wheels and Hubs: Tend to be lighter and does not
rust. Perfect for wet climates where rusting tends to be
an issue.
Steel Wheels and Hubs: Tends to be heavier and adds a few
extra pounds to the weight of the stroller. Usually used
to cut production costs and will be reflected in the pricing.
Rusts easier than alloy, so follow manufacturer's instructions
to help prevent the steel from rusting.

Shocks & Suspension:
A newer feature that is available on select models, shocks
and suspension will allow for a smoother ride on rough terrain.
Keep in mind that most strollers are made to have a nice
smooth ride and absorb some shock already, but if you frequently
jog/run on bumpy terrain, consider shocks and suspension.

Seatbelt & Restraint System:
A five-point harness is recommended to keep your child
more secure on rough terrain. Seatbelts should be easy for
you to latch and unlatch. For comfort, the seatbelts should
fit snugly around your child's waist and have crotch straps
that connect to the waist belt to prevent the child from
slipping out.

Reclining Seats:
Reclining seats are a new addition to jogging strollers.
Typically, the seats will not offer a full recline but will
recline to a position that will allow your child to be both
comfortable and safe while on rough terrain.

Selecting a stroller color:
Some things to consider before selecting a stroller color:
- If you jog in poorly lit areas, consider a lighter or
brighter color which will help to easily be seen by others.
- Consider using reflectors or flashing lights.
- Remember that dark colors attract the sun while lighter
colors help to stay cool.
