Peg Perego Strollers

It’s been said that the best ideas are born of necessity and this is certainly true of Peg Perego, a global leader in the design and production of infant and juvenile products. Unhappy with the non-availability of juvenile products for their infant son in 1949, Giuseppe Perego decided to design his own baby carriage. The aesthetics, functionality and the beautiful fabrics added by his wife caught the attention of parents in the Perego’s small Italian neighborhood. Soon they were inundated with requests by neighbors for carriages for their own children. Peg Perego was born.

It wasn’t long before word of the baby carriages spread, and the company introduced high chairs, strollers, and other juvenile products. With each new product, the family commitment to quality continued.

In the 1960s, Peg Perego ventured into a new market – children’s riding vehicles. The company engineered its own line of pedal-operated children’s riding vehicles, replacing traditional rust-prone steel construction with attractive, durable injection molded plastic. Durable and more fun for kids to play with, these re-engineered products heralded a new standard of safety and innovation in the children’s riding vehicle market. Forty years later, the children’s riding vehicles manufactured by Peg Perego, which now include battery powered John Deere, Polaris, Cub Cadet, Ducati and Vespa brands are considered the industry standard.

Ever a forward-thinking company, Peg Perego has never rested on past products or designs but continues to stay current with parents’ changing needs and new research that highlights the health and safety needs of infants and juveniles. The year 2006, for example, saw many new product introductions as well as a completely re-designed Web site that offers users access to unprecedented merchandise information to make buying options easier than ever.

"For 2007, we are introducing many new and exciting products and collections. The attention to detail is incredible. The new styling, new features as well as our new collections, brings this year’s line to life,” said Ken Maxwell, VP Marketing for Peg Perego, USA. "But even more important is that Peg Perego designers and engineers build and stand behind products that are beautiful, durable, safe and extremely functional for parents and children.”

Today, Peg Perego remains a family-owned business. Peg Perego’s philosophy of offering innovative, value-laden products remains as it was when Giuseppe Perego started the firm more than fifty years ago. Peg Pérego employs almost 1,500 people worldwide and operates in nearly 1.2 million square feet of factory and office space in Italy, the United States, Canada and Brazil. These facilities undergo frequent updating and enlargement, including the recent 125,000 square foot expansion of the Fort Wayne, Indiana, facility that now totals nearly 450,000 square feet.
